A Socialization, Communication, and Education Program for Young Children and their Families
Who Does SCEP Help?
A child expelled from several daycares for aggressive behaviour ... a little girl shifted from one home to another so often she has no idea where she belongs ... a family struggling to understand why their four-year-old won't speak and remains in his own world ... a child leaving a beloved foster home for a new 'forever' adoptive family. These are just a few examples of children and families that have come to SCEP CENTRE since our doors opened in 1968 and have found help.

Smart & Caring Fund - South Saskatchewan Community Foundation Donation
SCEP CENTRE gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Smart & Caring Fund at the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation, which is a public foundation serving the people of South Saskatchewan. The SSCF builds permanently endowed charitable funds for the changing need and opportunities of the community and provides grants to eligible charitable organizations in culture, health, education, environment, recreation and social service sectors.
With the generous donation from the Smart & Caring Fund, SCEP CENTRE has been able to purchase new gross motor equipment for the children who attend the program. SCEP CENTRE's Coming Together Growing Together outreach program includes children attending Eagle Heart Centre. Children from this program have also utilized the equipment and benefited. The new equipment includes an adventure obstacle course, tricycle, peanut ball, mirror, balls, and wobble chairs which the children have been thoroughly enjoying.
We can truly say that this generous donation has made a positive difference to the SCEP children and want to thank the South Saskatchewan Community foundation for their special contribution from the Smart & Caring Fund.

Lorne and Evelyn Johnson Foundation's Donation of a Therapeutic Swing
SCEP CENTRE gratefully acknowledges the financial support of The Lorne and Evelyn Johnson Foundation, a private foundation serving people of South Saskatchewan. The Foundation was established by the late Lorne and Evelyn Johnson to respond to the changing need and opportunities of the community and provides grants to eligible charitable organizations in culture, health, education, environment, recreation and social service sectors.
The funds were used to purchase a therapeutic swing which has been a beneficial and important addition to SCEP CENTRE’s program as it has helped to calm children who get over stimulated, upset and anxious. When children are calm, they are able to learn better, work through their feelings safely and communicate their needs and wants.

Thank You Community Initiatives Fund!
The Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) funding greatly assisted SCEP staff in providing additional support to all of the children directly involved with SCEP CENTRE and the Coming Together Growing Together (CTGT) programs this past year (2018-2019). With the support from CIF, SCEP was able to focus on and provide essential transition planning and support for children
with complex needs and their families.

SCEP CENTRE HistoryThe program was designed in 1968 by Elisabeth P. Brandt, Ph. D., S.O.M., specialist in the communication problems of young children. A group of parents of troubled teens had requested this because there were no services for their children at an early age. SCEP continues to provide services to families and agencies in southern Saskatchewan who are concerned with the problems of young children.
In 1994, Patricia B. Clark, B.A., M.Ed., R.S.W., SCEP's first staff member and Executive Director from 1984-2019, initiated SCEP CENTRE's Day Care Friends program to provide hands-on training and support to child care workers. more about Dr. Elisabeth H. Pasztor Brandt, PH.D, SOM |
