Parents Write:

• A small investment now in a program like SCEP CENTRE represents a huge savings to the community in later years. Already because of the support we have received from SCEP and "SCEP CENTRE's Summer Friends", we can look forward to a time when our son can pursue his passions with all the skills he needs to overcome his developmental differences.
• SCEP provided (our son) one on one trained professional help. They have assisted him to express his feelings, to communicate in an appropriate manner, to begin interacting with others, sit at a structured activity and worked on preschool skills. SCEP also provided support to us as a family. They listened to our concerns and gave us guidance on the appropriate action. The staff not only worked with us they cared for us.
• SCEP addresses each of (our child's) needs as they arise - the biting, the hitting and fighting and the gorging of food just to name a few. His speech has improved enough that he can share things from his day with us. He can now say "Me mad you Mom" instead of head butting me. With SCEP's help we know (our son) will continue to make progress in his development. SCEP is not only committed to their (child) clients, they are committed to the parents.

Summer Friends Staff Write:

• This experience made it evident to me how essential special programs such as SCEP are in the lives of these children and families.
• It was rewarding to take these children on outings and seeing them enjoy their time at different experiences they might not have experienced before. It helped me realize that normal everyday parents can have children that need the kind of therapeutic help that SCEP has to offer and also to be thankful for what I have and how I grew up.
• Even when we think a child doesn't understand what is happening, their behaviour from one day to the next shows that they do.

Day Care Staff Write:

• There are many children currently in (child) care that could benefit from SCEP's program. In fact all children could benefit from spending time at SCEP. Your emphasis on social and emotional development is one of the least planned for, yet most important areas of development in a young child. Unfortunately, it is not realistic to provide each child with a program of this intensity, nor is it necessary. That is why the "Day Care Friends" project is so wonderful.
• We found as a daycare team, SCEP's approach with no doubt truly helps children to express their feelings. I can't tell you what it means to the children, parents, and staff to have SCEP as a great support system to ALL children at our daycare. It is our continuing pleasure to work with SCEP as they truly put dreams into reality.
